Golf Courses in PHUKET

Blue Canyon Country Club

The site of Tiger Woods' 1998 Asian victory and host of 2007 Johnnie Walker

Canyon Courses Description:

Designer: Yoshikazu Kato

Holes / Par / Yards: 18 holes par 72 (7179 yards)

Established: 1991

Facilities: Accommodation, Massage, Restaurants, Spa, Swimming Pool

Blue Canyon Country Club has been rated as one of the most prestigious golf courses in Phuket and Asia and is as a true championship golf course that consistently ranks among Thailand’s best.

The Blue Canyon Country Club Canyon Course features many natural hazards, rolling fairways, narrow landing areas and many well-guarded greens.
As its name suggests the holes are built along the canyon edges with undulating fairways and greens.
The course has a challenging mix of narrow fairways requiring accurate tee shots.

After a gentle start the front 9 winds its way through tree lined fairways where any wayward shots from the tees will be penalised. The back 9 has two notable par three’s, the 14th which plays steeply downhill to an island green and the long 17th that runs alongside a canyon to a partially hidden green.
Another feature hole is the 13th where you must select a line within your capabilities to avoid the wide canyon.

The Blue Canyon Clubhouse has a terrace restaurant overlooking the 18th hole on the Canyon Course and is the perfect setting for lunch or evening meal after your round.

For golfers looking to play the best courses in Phuket the Canyon Course should definitely be on your list.

Lake Course Description:

Designer: Yoshikazu Kato

Holes / Par / Yards: 18 holes par 72 (7179 yards)

Established: 1991

Facilities: Accommodation, Massage, Restaurants, Spa, Swimming Pool

The Blue Canyon Country Club Lakes Course is a mixture of water filled canyons created by open cast tin mining and provides a different yet inspiring test for golfers of all handicaps.

The Lake Course was built in 1999 and is characterised by the unique feature of posing water challenges on 17 of its 18 holes. The first 9 holes of this scenic course are set amidst lakes and canyons while the back 9 are found among rubber trees.

The Lakes Course provides a comprehensive experience to players of any level. The layout is easier than the more famous Canyon Course and the also has some of the largest golf greens of any course in Phuket. With less blind shots and a more honest test of golf the Lakes Course is preferred by many golfers as green fees are considerably less than the Canyon Course.

The Par 4 18th hole is considered to be one of Thailand’s best finishing holes and two excellent shots will be required to reach the green. Many who try often find themselves in the canyon protecting the green.

In our opinion the Blue Canyon Lakes Course is one of the best value for money golf courses in Phuket and its close proximity to airport allows you to play straight after arrival or a final 18 holes before departure.

Phuket Country Club

island's oldest course; great views and scoring opportunities

Designer: Dr. Sukitti Klangvisai

Holes / Par / Yardage: 27 Holes Par 72/36 (6484/7150 yards)

Established: 1989

Facilities: Restaurants, Sauna, Swimming Pool, Tennis

Website: Phuket Country Club

Phuket Country Club was the first golf course built in Phuket and the stunning beauty and elegance of the course, together with the typical Thai hospitality will make your golfing here a joyful and memorable occasion.

Phuket Country Club is located close to Patong Beach and is a great place to start your golfing holiday. The course is shorter and less difficult than many modern day courses which allow golfers of all levels to score well and walk away with a good experience.

The Phuket golf course is set in a valley with a front 9 of subtle elevation changes through hills and cliffs. The back 9 is more level with some undulating fairways that wind through landscaped parkland.

The back features one of the most well known holes in Phuket, the par 5 10th. The tee box is elevated and is a 180 degree dog leg right around a large lake.  Most will aim for the fairway and play the hole in normal way but the long-hitting players can go directly after the green. It's a fun and entertaining hole that may cost many balls in the lake.

The clubhouse was refurbished several years ago and has large locker rooms, pro-shop, swimming pool and restaurant overlooking the course.

Phuket Country Club is currently a walking course however cart paths have now been built and golf carts should be available in early 2017.

Red Mountain Golf Club

Phuket's most exciting course; dramatic scenery and great golf

Designer: Johnathan Morrow

Holes / Par / Yardage: 18 Holes Par 72 (6905 yards)

Established: 2007

Facilities: Restaurants, Spa

Website: Red Mountain

Red Mountain Golf Club Phuket was opened in 2007 and quickly became established as not only one of the best courses in Thailand, but also South East Asia.

Like many courses Red Mountain Phuket was built on the site of an old tin mine and has been cleverly designed through rugged cliffs and canyons taking advantage of the dramatic natural elevation changes. The distinctive red color and the surrounding 'jungle' create a unique golfing experience.

Every hole on the Red Mountain Golf Course will require a variety of shots and good course management is essential to deal with the different challenges. The course has  some short par 4's that offer the opportunity of birdies and the signature par 3 17th hole is certainly one you'll remember. This dramatic hole has a 50 meter drop to the green and requires a medium iron through trees on either side.

The clubhouse offers excellent facilities including locker rooms, pro-shop and rental equipment. Thai and western cuisine is available at either the air conditioned restaurant or open air terrace overlooking the golf course.

Red Mountain Golf Club should be at the top of any golfers list when travelling to Phuket and this spectacular course will be one you will surely remember.

Loch Palm Golf Club

A local long-time favorite for its unique, fun & fair design

Designer: Dr. Sukitti Klangvisai

Holes / Par / Yardage: 18 Holes Par 72 (6555 yards)

Established: 1993

Facilities: Restaurants

Website: Loch Palm

Nestled around Crystal Lake, the largest body of water at any course in Phuket, and surrounded by lush vistas of the rolling hills, Loch Palm Golf Club provides one of the most relaxing rounds of golf available on the island and is a great course to start your golf holiday.

Loch Palm Golf Course was opened in 1996 and is a favorite not only with local Thai’s and expats but also with visitors to the island due to its location to the main beach resorts of Patong, Kamala, Karon and Kata.

The layout is quite scenic and has smooth slopes and some dramatic elevation changes that will challenge golfers of all levels. The first few holes wind around Crystal Lake and the front nine is probably the easier of the two. Although the fairways are quite wide and the rough light, strategically placed bunkers need to be avoided along with the 100’s of palm trees lining the fairways. The back nine has more elevation changes and straight tee shots are required as the fairways become slightly narrower.

The refurbished clubhouse has modern locker rooms, a small well stocked pro-shop and a terrace restaurant serving simple Thai and international cuisine overlooking Crystal Lake.

Laguna Phuket Golf Club

Award winning Laguna Golf Phuket hosts the Max Wexler and David Abell designed 6,850 yard par 71, 18 hole golf course in the beautiful Bang Tao beach area with a gorgeous background of mountains and ocean.

Designer: Max Wexler

Holes / Par / Yardage: 18 Holes Par 71 (6768 yards)

Established: 1993

Facilities: Golf Academy, Restaurants

Website: Laguna Phuket Golf Club

Laguna Golf Phuket is now one of the top golf courses in Phuket. It’s location on the west coast of Phuket also makes it one of the most easily accessible courses from the north and south of the island.

Formerly Laguna Phuket Golf Club, the re-designed course now provides a much more challenging experience than the original layout. The course now features skillfully contoured two tier fairways,  carefully placed bunkers, a number of landscaped lagoons bringing water into play and large greens with run off areas that will test your short game capabilities.

The signature hole at Laguna Golf Phuket is the 17th which measures over 600 yards, playing over water twice and will require three very good shots to reach the green and give yourself a chance of a par.

Although the course is walk able golf carts are now available much to the relief of those who prefer to tee off later in the day.

The clubhouse has also been upgraded and features first class amenities such as locker rooms, a well-stocked pro-shop and the Banyan Café, the perfect place to enjoy lunch and refreshments after your round.

At the 2015 Asian Golf Awards  Laguna Golf Phuket received top 10 awards for Best Maintained Course in Asia Pacific and Best Course in Thailand,  and should therefore be on your golf holiday itinerary.

Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa

picturesque Nicklaus design on the Andaman Sea

Designer: Jack Nicklaus

Holes / Par / Yardage: 18 Holes Par 72 (7015 yards)

Established: 2004

Facilities: Accommodation, Restaurants, Swimming Pool

Website: Mission Hills Phuket

Situated on the north east coast of Phuket nestled amongst rubber plantations and mangrove forests is the Mission Hills Phuket Golf Resort.

The course was opened in 2004 and this Jack Nicklaus design offers a challenging championship layout that will test the skills of low handicappers but also provide a relaxing round of golf for the occasional player.

The Mission Hills Phuket layout is quite flat however water comes into play on numerous holes along with warm breezes from the Andaman Sea that can make club selection difficult especially on the holes 3, 4, 5 and 13. The most challenging holes are on the front 9 starting at the 2nd where you need to avoid a large sandy waste area from the tee and tackle a difficult approach shot to an island green. The 4th hole is a short par 3 and the first of the ocean holes with stunning views of the Andaman Sea. The par 4 18th is unusual as the hole sets up a variety of options to most golfers from the tee and has a choice of two greens to finish your round.

Facilities at Mission Hills are first class with spacious modern locker rooms, well stocked pro-shop, restaurant, hotel accommodation and swimming pool.
